Easter Blessings to you!
Standing in the midst of downtown
Los Angeles, the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels serves
the total Archdiocese of over 5 million Catholics. As the
heart of all 287 Parish Churches and communities, it is
the place where the Archbishop celebrates the major Liturgies
of the year with clergy, religious and laity.
The Cathedral serves as a "model Church for all
Parish Churches"
in the style and content of its liturgical celebrations.
In design, art and furnishings, the Cathedral is rich
in cultural diversity in a city in which Sunday Mass
is celebrated in 42 different languages.
In these first nine years, the Cathedral has welcomed countless pilgrims and visitors. Thank you for being a part of the Cathedral's success story!

"Jesus Etchings" inspired by Correggios "Head of Christ"
A Dan McCleary Art Exhibit at the Cathedral.
May 12 - June 30, 2013.
Ten trial proofs for etchings "Jesus" by Dan McCleary were printed at the
Taller De Grabado in Oaxaca, Mexico in June 2006. The image of Jesus
was inspired by the painting "Head of Christ" painted circa 1525-1530 by
Correggio (Antonio Allegri) which is currently in the Getty Museum
collection. Seen together the series of 10 works evoke Veronica's veil.
They are on exhibition in the Art Chapel at the Cathedral from May 12
thru June 30, 2013. The Art Chapel is located in the north ambulatory of
the Cathedral. |

"On Heaven and Earth" available for first time in English!
Jorge Mario Bergoglio, the man who became Pope Francis, shares
his thoughts on religion, reason, and the challenges the world faces
in the 21st century with Abraham Skorka, rabbi and biophysicist. On Heaven and Earth, originally published in Argentina
in 2010, brings together a series of conversations where
both men talked about theological and worldly issues,
including God, fundamentalism, atheism, abortion,
homosexuality, euthanasia, same-sex marriage, and
globalization. From these personal talks comes a
first-hand view of the man who would become pope.
