Some Frequently Asked Questions about Cathedral Baptisms:

Q. How old can the child be?
A. Infant to 5 years of age. If the child is older than five years, we require you to go to your local parish and register your child in an initiation program for children.

Q. Who can be a godparent?
A. There needs to be at least one godparent who is practicing Catholic. One must be male and one female. If one is not Catholic , they may serve as a witness to the baptism along with a Catholic godparent.

Q. When can I register for the preparation class?
A. After we receive a letter with your request, we will contact you and give you the class dates and time. Both parents and godparents MUST attend the class. You will receive a confirmation letter from the Cathedral with the date and time of the class you will attend.

Q. After I attend the class and fill out the require paperwork, what happens then?
A. You will be contacted to confirm the date of the baptism, then we will send you a letter of confirmation with information needed for the day and time of the baptism ceremony.

Q. How much does it cost?
A. The Cathedral asks for a suggested donation. During the classes, you will be given more information.

Q. How about parking on the day of the ceremony?
A. Parking is a flat fee of $5.00
