Gardens: Olive Garden
The Cathedral Olive Garden was conceived as a children’s play area and is now lovingly known as the 'Children's Garden'. Since its introduction to California by the Missions, the Olive Tree has become a hallmark of the cultivated landscape. In Christian art the olive branch is used to represent peace. The children's garden is adorned with the Cathedral animals based on biblical scriptures! The animals were individually designed by a children's book artist, giving each animal its own tender personality!
