The LA Dodgers will commemorate their World Series title this Friday, Nov. 1st with a parade starting at City Hall at 11am followed by a special ticketed celebration at Dodger Stadium.
The Archdiocese of Los Angeles and the Plaintiff’s Liaison Committee announced that an agreement has been reached for a global settlement for the remaining claims filed against the Archdiocese under California Assembly Bill 218 (AB 218) which lifted the statute of limitations for a second time in California allowing civil claims of past sexual misconduct involving minors during a three-year window from 2020-2022. What follows are answers to general questions regarding the AB 218 litigation and the recent settlement, as well as information on the ongoing efforts by the Archdiocese to support survivor-victims and prevent abuse.

The Cathedral Parish Offices, Gift Store, and Café will be closed on Thursday, July 4th, and Friday, July 5th, in observance of the Independence Day holiday weekend. The Cathedral Gift Shop will be closed for in-person visitors for four days as we conduct our annual end of fiscal year inventory count starting on Monday June 17th. The store will reopen with regular business hours on Friday June 21, 2024. The website will remain open for purchases during this time.
More than 3,000 people — among them some 450 priests serving in the archdiocese — filled the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels for the Monday evening liturgy, where the oils to be used for the sacraments of baptisms, confirmation, ordinations and anointing of the sick throughout the year were blessed and later distributed to parishes. In order to handle increased parking needs on Easter Sunday, all cars will enter the structure via the Hill Street entrance only. Cars will depart the structure via the Temple Street exit. Please note that there is no left turn into the parking structure on Hill Street.
The 39th running of the Los Angeles Marathon takes place on Sunday, March 17, 2024. The Cathedral is the sixth landmark on a course starting from Dodger Stadium and finishing on Santa Monica Blvd in Century City. Street-closures and higher than usual traffic are expected in DTLA this weekend, Saturday, Feb. 24 through Sunday, Feb. 25 for two two-day concurrent events: The Skyline Festival in Grand Park and the LA Chinatown Firecracker Festival. Although no closures are expected near the Cathedral, do expect some added traffic as a result of street closures in the nearby Chinatown area. Please plan accordingly.
The Stations of the Cross take place every Friday of Lent, at 11:30AM starting in the sanctuary of the Cathedral. The Stations of the Cross are a 14-step Catholic devotion that commemorates Jesus Christ's last day on Earth as a man. The 14 stations focus on specific events of His last day, beginning with His condemnation.
This Saturday, Jan. 20th marks the 10th year of OneLife LA! Spearheaded by the ADLA Office of Life, Justice and Peace, OneLife LA promotes a culture of life, where every human life is dignified, especially the most vulnerable and marginalized. This years’ event will kick off at the city’s birthplace, La Placita on Olvera Street at 11am, with a welcome from Archbishop Gomez, who will lead a Walk for Life from Olvera Street to Los Angeles State Historic Park for the program and celebration. The program and family festival will include a roster of dynamic voices sharing their personal and life-affirming stories. On Monday January 15, 2024 our nation observes Martin Luther King Day, a federal holiday. On this day the Parish Offices, Gift Shop and Café will be closed. Daily Mass will be held at 12:10pm. A special Mass honoring the life of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. will be held at 3:00 PM on January 15, 2024.
"Guadalupe Tonantzin: Guide and path towards the child Jesus" is a new 10-piece art exhibit honoring Our Lady of Guadalupe by sacred artist Lalo Garcia, now open at the Cathedral. The exhibit features the debut of a new 30x40 acrylic on canvas painting by Garcia called “Protectora de migrantes” (Protector of migrants) depicting the Virgin protecting monarch butterflies, known as a universal symbol of migration, and it will be open to the public from December 3 through January 5, 2024. Admission is free.
The Latino Theater Company's production of “La Virgen de Guadalupe, Dios Inantzin,” is a pageant play celebrating the miracles of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Those unable to attend in person are invited to a live broadcast will be presented on friday, December 1, 2023 at 7:30pm.
